BT (British Telecom) my service provider thinks it is a line fault but the connection only goes bad when my Dynamic IP address changes. I know it changes and its not usually a problem when it does. Symptoms are that the address changes and my connection to internet goes off for hours. When the service returns, I notice the IP Address has changed. This happens every time without exception. BT have been trying to fix this for 4 weeks now. Does anyone know why the changing of an IP addr puts me off the Internet for so long?

i reccommend you reinstall your OS(operating sistem) best bet, i can think of right now.
They’re morons. It’s not your fault or your line. Sounds like either the modem itself, or their main hub isn’t recognizing your IP address change. Try a new modem AND get their main office to keep your IP static in the windows settings.
