This blog links to the newscast where the CEO of the company proposing this free service discusses the govt. nixing his plan.
Do you agree with the government’s decision? If so, why? If not, why not?
How strange – the interview begins with the GOVT DECISION TO NOT ALLOW IT!!!!!!!!
C’mon citizen, keep up. Your rights are being trampled.
Brianne, it’s the FCC that forbade it. They’re part of the govt, you know.
And, the Justice Department this week instructed the FCC to forbid net neutrality, too.
Got it? Now, feel free to give an informed opinion.
Here’s a reason the govt might have said it’s not in the public interest – the company would provide ‘family friendly’ internet, meaning a censored internet. It also would provide ‘ad-supported’ internet, not exactly free.
Froghugger – what’s wrong with your brain? The company wants to provide the free wireless internet. No one is suggesting the govt provide it.
You should read before you answer questions.
Thanks. (No wonder you don’t accept email.)

Its the industry that I work in thats trying to block it, not the GOVT. Of course they will try to block frre WiFi when there is money to be made from selling the services.
Read the article again! No mention of the Goverment trying to stop it!
lets have free phone and cable TV too. Heck lets have everything free so no one has to work. Oh wait someone would have to work in order to provide these services, well I guess they just shouldn’t get paid, it don’t matter as long as we get everything for free.

Sorry if you think i jumped to conclusions but . . . Do you realize that M2Z was trying to convince the FCC to hand over the spectrum to them for FREE!!!! which usually means tax payers are footing the bill. Believe it or not somebody is going to pay for it nothing is free. (btw FCC = The Federal Communications Commission, a United States GOVERNMENT agency)
Not only that but M27 also said if they could do that they promised to filter any “objectionable content” crossing those free airwaves. So our tax money would be supporting free Internet service with censored content. And you talk about rights being trampled.
So yes I agree with the government because though some stuff on the Internet is disgusting I DO NOT want it censored. Apparently you do. Why not books too, free books for everyone but someone else gets to decide what we read. would there be a difference?
Nothing is free everyone wants money, money, money, that’s the name of the game.
